According to Insider Darren Dreger, Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy will be missing a signifiant time due to a broken foot.
Tough break for the Lightning. No pun intended. Sounds like Andrei Vasilevsky fractured his left foot and will be out for awhile.— Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) November 15, 2018
Vasilevskiy has started the season off very well with 9 wins, a 2.29 GAA and a .927 SV%. But now the question is, who will replace him while he is out? Is Louis Domingue capable of playing the role of a starter? His current stats of 3.43 GAA and .887 SV% on the season dont say so. Their minor league goalies Pasquale & Ingram are not fairing any better with a .896 and .890 Sv% with the Crunch.
What makes the situation even worse is at this time their are no goalies that are considered available via trade at the moment.
The Lightning are going to need to rely heavily on Domingue to carry the load until Andrei returns. Hopefully this does not ruin their chance at a playoff spot like losing Quick did for LA a few years ago.
