Rick Nash was the definition of a power forward. He was a big body, drove the net and fought hard in the corners. But not only did he have the grittiness to his game, but he also had finesse. He was a great stick handler, and to this day still has one of my favourite goals of all time as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets (see video below).
Nash while he never got the chance to hoist Lord Stanley, he came very close as a member of the New York Rangers. But he did have a very accomplished career. Nash won the Rocket Richard trophy in 03-04, and won back to back gold medals in 2010 & 2014.
While this is a very sad day that Rick Nash is announcing his retirement at the young age of 34, the positive we can take from this is, he is doing it at his own choice. It is fully his decision to take care of his health and leave the game in which he loves.
Best of luck in your future Rick,
Wheel House Hockey!
