Hockey GM Advice
The GM being graded today is Anaheim Ducks GM: Bob Murray
Murray has made a few moves this offseason, bringing in Veterans Brian Gibbons, Luke Schenn & Andrej Sustr. All moves to improve the bottom lines but good moves for the team indeed. Gibbons will add some speed and chip in 10+ goals, while Schenn is a shot blocking machine and is the ideal third pairing defenceman. Sustr will be more of a 7thdefencemen.
Lets not forget that Murray locked in Adam Henrique long term for a great team friendly contract, after a great season with the Ducks after being acquired from the Devils. This move was very important with the uncertainty of Ryan Kesler next season.
Murray has built an extremely deep team here in Anaheim, an ageing team, but a deep team. We have also just learned that Patrick Eaves will be healthy and ready to go next season!
Lets take a look at the potential lineup
Rakell – Getzlaf – Kase
Cogliano – Kesler – Silfverberg
Ritchie – Henrique – Perry
Gibbons – Rowney – Eaves
Fowler – Montour
Lindholm – Manson
Larsson – Schenn
Do you see a hole in this lineup anywhere? Murray has built a dominate team that hopefully this will be there year to win it all! Lets not forget about youngsters Sam Steel & Troy Terry looking to make the team!
The Ducks had 101 points in the 17/18 season, and if the team remains healthy I believe they can push for 110 points this season!
The Ducks made the playoffs, and filled holes they believe to have had. Their major issue in the playoffs was speed and with the few additions and the youth looking to make their way into the lineup, this should be improved for 2018/19.
Murray grade: 83/100
