DFS Playbook: Thursday, November 15

I told you so!

On Tuesday I guaranteed Erik Karlsson would put up a point. Yeah, it was just an assist… But I wasn’t wrong! Dominik Simon ended up being a bit of a bust, but I ended up hitting on Draisaitl and Sid, who put up what I was looking for from them. Let’s get moving with some key plays for tonight’s NHL DFS slate. I’ll build this lineup for the $8 NHL $50K Autumn Two-Man Adv. GPP Contest.

GOALIE

Carey Price, MTL, $7,100

Price will be a good low-priced option for tonight’s game in Calgary. Yeah, the Habs have been involved in some pretty high-scoring games lately, allowing 21 goals in their last 4 games. I’m feeling a big game from Price against the struggling Flames who have only scored 4 goals in their last 3 games, two of which, against backup goalies (Kings and Ducks). I’m seeing the Habs get a win in Calgary tonight, with Price shining bright. Price is actually one of the only goalies I’m super high on tonight. Well, him and whoever starts for the Preds in Arizona.

CENTER

Evgeni Malkin, PIT, $6,700

Geno has slowed down as of late after getting off to a red-hot start to begin the season. However, with Sidney Crosby ruled out for tonight’s game against the Bolts (and TB starting their back-up goalie), Geno is a must-play option. Perhaps better in cash games than GPPs due to a high potential ownership… But that won’t stop me from playing him in this tournament. Geno has time and time again showed us that he can put the team on his back when Crosby is away. Look for Malkin to do much of the same tonight against the Bolts. Also… Part of me wants to give Dominik Simon another shot tonight… I may end up doing that again to save some salary.

WINGERS

James Van Riemsdyk, PHI, $5,200

JVR is returning to action tonight as the Flyers host the Devils. The Flyers have scored 15 goals in their last 4 games and I can expect that streak to continue, especially with the return of JVR and his net-front presence. This matchup is one that I can see being high-scoring.

Taylor Hall, NJD, $7,600

Like I said, I see this being a high-scoring game. Hall is coming off a 4-point (2G, 2A) performance against the Penguins on Tuesday night and I don’t see why he wouldn’t do much of the same tonight in Philly.

DEFENCEMEN

Erik Karlsson, SJS, $5,100

Yes, I know I played him Tuesday night. But he didn’t let me down. That assist does a lot for a guy’s confidence, especially when he’s having a hard time fitting in with the Sharks. Why not breakout against a team he is all too familiar with, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Karlsson has more points against the Leafs than he does any other team in the NHL (36gp, 35pts). I’m going to step it up from Tuesday night when I said he is guaranteed a point. Tonight… I GUARANTEE that EK will get at least two points and will be a top 3 DFS Defenceman tonight.

Let me know what your DFS lineups are looking like tonight and who you’re high on and not so high on!
